Washers distribute load, prevent surface damage, and add locking resistance to a bolted joint. We manufacture flat washers, split lock (spring) washers, and Belleville disc springs to DIN and ISO standards in steel and stainless steel.

A flat washer's job looks trivial — spread load, protect the surface — but the wrong washer under a high-tensile bolt genuinely reduces the joint's effective clamping capacity, because an undersized or overly soft washer can crush or dish under torque before the bolt reaches its intended preload. Structural and high-tensile applications specify hardened flat washers for exactly this reason.

Spring (split lock) washers have fallen out of favor in modern high-vibration engineering for a reason worth knowing: independent testing has repeatedly shown they contribute little genuine anti-loosening benefit under vibration compared to a properly torqued joint or a true prevailing-torque lock nut. They're still widely used and still useful for taking up minor thread-length variance, but buyers relying on them as a primary vibration-resistance strategy are often better served by a lock nut or thread-locking compound instead.
